The Audi RS5 coming to the US market!

Image
After a long deliberation Audi has finally made a decision. The RS5 sports coupe will make it to the US market: "We have voted on it and the car is coming over definitely. But it will be more than a year out from the start of deliveries in Western Europe." This marks the first RS model to be sold in the U.S. since the untimely death of the Audi RS4 Cabriolet in 2008 and it is about time. Some of us have still not gotten over the fact that the RS3 wasn’t offered on our side. It is rumored that the US price will be in the $69,500 area, but for a fully equipped RS5, you will have to pay around $75K. The RS5 is powered by a turbocharged V8 engine with a total output of 450 bhp at 8250 rpm and a maximum output of 317 lbs-ft of torque between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission that can operate in fully automatic mode – or the driver can shift via the innovative selector lever or shift paddles on the steering wheel. The car weighs only 3,...

5 High-Paying, Low-Stress Jobs

If you're like thousands of other job seekers, you may dream of earning the big bucks without having to deal with the extreme stress that goes hand-in-hand with top-paying jobs. Of course, a high-salary, low-stress job sounds too good to be true. Or is it? Believe it or not, you don't have to take on a heart-pounding career as a brain surgeon, airline pilot or stock broker to bring home some serious bacon. As a matter of fact, some of the highest-stress jobs pay surprisingly scanty salaries. Just think about police officers, firefighters and social workers. These folks have quite possibly the most nerve-racking jobs in the world, yet most of them earn less than $45,000 a year. What about combat soldiers who face death on a daily basis? They typically earn less than $30,000 a year. In other words, high stress does not always equal a hefty salary, or vice versa. Fortunately, there are plenty of laid-back career choices that pay quite generously. Physical Therapist Although physic...

Mazda working on rectifying common rotary engine issues for upcoming RX-7

Image
We have heard it repeatedly for close to a year now, Mazda is working on a successor to the RX-7 and is working on a new rotary engine that is able to run on petrol or diesel. And now Autocar UK is reporting that Mazda is still working on the rotary unit for the car, and Mazda’s most important aim is to offer much improved fuel consumption compared to the recently discontinued RX-8. The new two-stroke 16X engine will be designed to ‘rectify the shortcomings of Mazda’s most recent rotary powerplant, including its high oil consumption.’ The report by Autocar also says that the new unit has already achieved significant improvements in fuel efficiency. But before you MazdaSpeed fans get all excited about this, you should know that the final go-ahead has not yet been received from the bosses. Apparently the engineers still need to attain the best combination of performance, economy and emissions. They are also working on rectifying the rotary unit’s lack of torque in the mid-range. In its c...

Porsche GT2 RS officially unveiled !! 620hp, 70kg lighter, 7:18 at the Nurburgring

Image
Finally after over a week of teasers, the official details and photos of the Porsche GT2 RS have been released. Earlier rumors on power figures turned out to be true as it has been confirmed that the GT2 RS will be a 620hp beast, but previous guesses on weight loss turned out to be false as the car is 70kg lighter than the GT2, reported guesses placed the weight loss at 90kg. I suggest watching the video first before you click on. If you don’t already know, the 620hp of the GT2 RS makes this the most potent Porsche road car in the history of the marque. And considering that all that power comes from a 3.6-liter processor, it’s quite a technical achievement as well. But I’m pretty sure having two variable turbine geometry turbochargers helps with the massive power. With 620hp hanging over the rear axle pushing a body that weighs in at a mere 1,370kg, the new widowmaker does the sprint to 100km/h in 3.5-seconds, 200km/h in 9.8-seconds and 300km/h in 28.9-seconds. And it won’t stop pushin...

Exclusivity meets rarity: Lexus introduces LFA Nurburgring Package – limited to 50 units only

Image
The Lexus LFA is probably one of the most rare cars of this decade, 500 units dispersed around the world hardly gives the rich a chance to own one, and if you’re in the USA, you can’t own one no matter how rich you are, you will have to lease it first. Such is the appeal of the LFA. We hear about GTR fans moaning about how many GTR’s you can buy with the price of one LFA, but really, who cares about a Nissan that you see everyday, a LFA that you see once a year will still make you go wow, even if its faster or not. That’s the real appeal of exclusivity. So we already know that the LFA is one rare piece of machinery, but its about to get even more rare with the introduction of the Nurburgring Package. Built to commemorate the LFA’s participation in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, the special edition car will be limited to only 50 units. So what’s so different? To start with, the special edition gets a new front splitter, dive plans and a fixed rear wing, just like the original race car. Bu...
